Zulu Ace Review
Overview
Zulu Ace has a feature that very few other bottles on the market have because you can unscrew it from both the top and bottom. This (in theory) makes it easier to clean all surfaces inside the bottle.
There have only been a few other bottles we've seen on the market so this certainly is an intriguing benefit that helps Zulu Ace stand apart. But while this sounds like a great concept, other aspects of the bottle go against the "easy cleaning" idea which is the foundation of this design. |

Zulu Ace FAQs
- Are Zulu Ace bottles safe? | Everything we have seen indicates that Vesmoon's bottles are safe, or at least just as safe as other comparable bottles on the market.
- Are Zulu Ace bottles dishwasher safe? | Zulu Ace recommends handwashing the bottle, which is easier because it can be opened from both sides. The lid is top-rack dishwasher safe.
- Are Zulu Ace bottles good? | It depends on who you ask. Our opinion is that being able to open a bottle on the bottom sounds great in theory, but when you consider the additional seals, more potential leak points, decreased insulation, and the fact that you will likely still need a bottle brush, it may be worth considering other bottles on the market.
- Are Zulu Ace bottles BPA free? | Yes, Zulu Ace bottles are BPA free.
- Are Zulu Ace bottles lead-free? | Their FAQ says they test their bottles to ensure no lead exposure to consumers. However, this does not specifically say whether they use a lead-based solder to seal the vacuum. We have not found an official statement or test that shows whether or not Zulu uses a lead-based solder. This type of seal is fairly standard across this industry outside of a few notable exceptions like Owala and Hydro Flask. However, even if Zulu uses a lead-based solder, realistically there is an extremely small probablility that you would ever have an issue with lead unless your bottle was severely damaged, and in that case you would likely need a new bottle anyways because the insulation is probably lost and the bottle would be very dented and wobbly.
- Are Zulu Ace bottes stainless steel? | Yes, they are made with food-grade stainless steel.
- Are Zulu Ace bottles insulated? | Yes, they have dual-wall vacuum insulation.
- Do Zulu Ace bottles fit in cupholders? | Yes, they should fit in the majority of cupholders. However, since not all cupholders are the same, we highly recommend measuring yours against the size of the bottle. If necessary, considering buying a cup holder adapter like our BottlePro Max.

Owala
Owala's fixed straw design makes it one of the easiest straw lids to clean all surfaces that contact water.
|

If having cleaner water is a priority for you, then consider a bottle with a built-in filter.

Recommended Accessories
Bottle Brush Kit
Great for your regular cleaning every 2-4 days.
This kit includes a large brush to clean in the bottle, a detailing brush to clean the threads and lid, a straw cleaner, and hangers so you can stay organized. |
Cleaning Tablets
Recommended to use these once per month.
In additional to regular weekly cleaning, deep-cleaning your bottle once per month is usually a good idea to prevent germs and buildup, especially around seals. |
Cup Holder Adapter
Usually needed for bottles over 3" diameter.
Our BottlePro Max has a twist-to-expand base, removable centralizing tabs, and a grip pad to help keep your bottle secure and by your side. |
And Just for Fun (and Better Tasting Water)
Fruit Infuser
As a bonus, check out our FlavorFuze Pod drop-in fruit infuser to make your water fun! Skip the soda or flavor pods with artificial sweeteners (like Cirkul) and add healthy flavors with natural fruit each day. The pod is easy to remove when you're done thanks to a big handle on top, making for a healthy mid-day snack.
It comes with two lids. One is a splash-guard style lid that fits in wide mouth Hydro Flasks, and the other is a drop-in style lid that fits in nearly all wide mouth bottles (including Owala FreeSips, YETI Ramblers, Stanley Quenchers, Hydro Flasks, and many more). |
