ThermoFlask Review
Overview
When Hydro Flask's popularity rose, ThermoFlask was one of the early brands to offer a similar product at a more affordable price. Given that this is a brand owned by Takeya, it shouldn't come as a surprise that the two brands look and function similarly.
Like Takeya Actives, some of ThermoFlask's listings offer a bottle boot. But in addition, you can usually find a ThermoFlask 2-pack bottle listing that provides even more value, which includes two bottles, two boots, and four lids. So if you're looking for two bottles either for gifts or for you and a significant other, buying from ThermoFlask's 2-pack listing is the easiest way we know to get a couple great bottles with matching accessories. |

ThermoFlask FAQs
- Are ThermoFlask bottles dishwasher safe? | Yes, ThermoFlask's powder-coated bottles are dishwasher safe. Some of their bottles have text on the bottom that says "handwash only," but ThermoFlask's website confirms they are technically dishwasher safe.
- Are ThermoFlask bottles safe? | Everything we have seen indicates that ThermoFlask's bottles are safe, or at least just as safe as other comparable bottles on the market.
- Are ThermoFlask bottles worth it? | ThermoFlask bottles are great all-around bottles for everyday hydration. The fact that they are sold as a convenient 2-pack with bottle boots and multiple lid styles makes them really easy, especially if you and a friend or significant other are new to big bottles and want to test which lids you each prefer.
- Are ThermoFlask bottles easy to clean? | Yes, but it's a little confusing. We have an older ThermoFlask with seals that do not have pull tabs, making it harder to deep clean. But based on their lid seal chart shown here, it looks like many of their newer bottles and lid designs are compatible with their seals with pull tabs. They sell the seals with pull tabs separately here, but we are not certain if these are included with newer listings. If you know the answer, please let us know and we'll update this.
- Are ThermoFlask bottles BPA-free? | Yes, ThermoFlask bottles are made with 18/8 stainless steel, and the lids are made of food-safe polypropylene plastics with silicone seals. All of these are BPA-free. Here is ThermoFlask's FAQ (look under 'Manufacturing - What are ThermoFlask bottles made of?').
- Do ThermoFlask bottles contain lead? | Yes, according to this article by Lead-Safe Mama. The lead is used in the solder to seal the vacuum insulation. This type of seal is fairly standard across this industry outside of a few notable exceptions like Owala and Hydro Flask. However, there is an extremely small probablility that you would ever have an issue with lead unless your bottle was severely damaged, and in that case you would likely need a new bottle anyways because the insulation is probably lost and the bottle would be very dented and wobbly.
- Do ThermoFlask bottles fit in cupholders? | No, the 32oz ThermoFlask bottles will not fit in most cupholders. Consider buying an adapter like our BottlePro Max.
- Are ThermoFlask and Hydro Flask the same? | No, ThermoFlask is owned by Takeya. But all three bottles are extremely similar, including the dimensions and overall shape. The main differences are the lids, prices, and color options. Check out our Hydro Flask page here to compare.
