Takeya Review
Overview
When Hydro Flask began gaining traction, Takeya emerged as one of the better alternatives on the market. The main draw has always been the lid design, which includes a covered spout to keep it clean and a good handle that is there when you need it but rotates out of the way.
While Takeya never reached the viral heights of Hydro Flask and later Stanley or Owala, they've always had a solid, reliable bottle that is good at almost everything. And it's often at a more affordable price point than its premium competitors. If you want a a great spout bottle and aren't concerned with having the most popular bottle, it's hard to go wrong with Takeya. If you go with Takeya, we recommend picking their Actives series over Originals because it includes a bottle boot and an insulated lid. |

- Are Takeya bottles worth it? | Takeya Actives bottles are excellent all-around bottles at a relatively affordable price. If you're looking for an everyday-hydration bottle, this is a great option.
- Are Takeya bottles easy to clean? | Yes, Takeya bottles are easier to clean than many similar bottles because they include pull tabs on the seals, which makes them easier to remove for deep cleaning. A brush kit is still recommended to clean the bottle though.
- Are Takeya bottles BPA-free? | Yes, Steepware indicates their bottles are made with BPA-free materials.bottles are made with BPA-free materials.
- Do Takeya bottles contain lead? | Yes, according to this article by Lead-Safe Mama. The lead is used in the solder to seal the vacuum insulation. This type of seal is fairly standard across this industry outside of a few notable exceptions like Owala and Hydro Flask. However, there is an extremely small probablility that you would ever have an issue with lead unless your bottle was severely damaged, and in that case you would likely need a new bottle anyways because the insulation is probably lost and the bottle would be very dented and wobbly.
- Do Takeya bottles fit in cupholders? | No, the 32oz Takeya will not fit in most cupholders. Consider buying an adapter like our BottlePro Max.
