Simple Modern Mesa Loop Review

Picture
Overview
Simple Modern released their Mesa Loop bottle in 2025, and it's their answer to Owala's popular FreeSip.

This bottle does a lot of things well, including being easy to clean and having a good handle.  The grip pad on the bottom, built-in lock, and threaded straw also have their own advantages (though in some cases like the threaded straw, these can come with minor disadvantages, too).

The only real downsides to this bottle are that it's a bit bulky for the volume of water that you get, and while the threaded straw helps keep it in place, that does add some tight spaces to clean.

Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives, and Simple Modern's Mesa Loop is a very good option if you're looking for a good reusable bottle for everyday use.

Why Buy?
  • Keeps the Spout Clean: The spring lid keeps the drinking surface clean throughout the day.
  • Easy to Deep Clean Most Surfaces and Seals (except around the threaded straw): The fixed spout is easy to clean because it avoids the issue with traditional flip-up spouts that have a hidden seal at the pivot point.  Also, the spout seal and rim seal are both easy to remove and clean without needing a tool to pick them out.
  • Grip Pad on Bottom: This silicone grip pad prevents some scratches and dampens noise when putting your bottle on a table.  However, keep in mind that it doesn't replace a bottle boot in terms of dent resistance or full-bottom scratch protection.
  • Built-In Lock: The toggle-lock on the button helps prevent accidentally opening your bottle.  However, it's still possible to accidentally open if something were to hit the button from the bottom at an angle because this can shift the lock into "open" then press the button inward in one motion.  I you're planning to put your bottle in a bag or purse, consider a bottle like Owala Sway with a lock behind the lid as a more secure option.
  • Threaded Straw (the good): The straw has a fitting on the end that threads into the bottom of the lid.  This helps keep the straw in place, which is a problem with some bottles like Stanley's Flowstate Spring.
Picture
Why Avoid?
  • Threaded Straw (the bad): The downside of having a threaded straw is that it adds some small spaces that are more difficult to clean, so it helps to get a small detailing brush and/or soak your lid in warm soapy water or a Bottle Bright bath routinely to clean those spaces.
  • Bulky for the Volume:  The spring lid works well but is a bit bulkier than some competitors.  Also, this bottle is narrower than some 30 - 32oz competitors, but that means it's taller to reach that volume.  This can make Mesa Loop more likely to be in the way in tight spaces, like a vehicle.

Simple Modern Mesa Loop FAQs

  • Are Stanley Flowstate Springs dishwasher safe? | Yes, though the lid should go in the top rack.
  • Are Stanley Flowstate Springs leak-proof? | Yes, Flowstate Springs are leak-proof.  Just make sure the seals are correctly installed and the lid is completely closed.
  • Are Stanley Flowstate Springs worth it? | This can be a good bottle for use around the office or house, and it is easy to clean.  However, note the significant drawbacks like the whistling noise before buying.
  • Are Stanley Flowstate Springs safe to use? | Everything we've seen indicates that Stanley bottles are safe to use.  They are made of food-grade stainless steel and food-safe plastic for the lids and straws.  The lead is part of the seal for the vacuum and is not a danger to your health unless your bottle becomes extremely damaged.
  • Are Stanley Flowstate Springs BPA-free? | Yes, Stanley bottles are made of stainless steel and food-safe plastic, both of which are BPA-free.
  • Are Stanley Flowstate Springs lead-free? | No, Stanley bottles use a lead-based solder to seal the vacuum.  The solder is located on the bottom of the bottle, and it is only exposed and potentially dangerous if your bottle has extreme damage (and in that case you probably need a new bottle anyways).

And Just for Fun (and Better Tasting Water)

Picture
Fruit Infuser
As a bonus, check out our FlavorFuze Pod drop-in fruit infuser to make your water fun!  Skip the soda or flavor pods with artificial sweeteners (like Cirkul) and add healthy flavors with natural fruit each day.  The pod is easy to remove when you're done thanks to a big handle on top, making for a healthy mid-day snack.

It comes with two lids.  One is a splash-guard style lid that fits in wide mouth Hydro Flasks, and the other is a drop-in style lid that fits in nearly all wide mouth bottles (including Owala FreeSips, YETI Ramblers, Stanley Quenchers, Hydro Flasks, and many more).
