Overview

Using a combination of sleeker design and lower prices, Simple Modern has built a passionate following despite not always being mentioned in the same sphere as viral brands like Hydro Flask and Stanley.  But with over 35,000 reviews averaging 4.8 stars on Amazon, their products like this tumbler are certainly loved by many consumers.

This brand does a fantastic job of looking and feeling like a "premium" brand without having a premium-level price tag, making it a very appealing choice.

If you're not as concerned about having a bottle or tumbler from the "it" brand of the moment but but want something that looks and functions just as well (if not better in some cases), then Simple Modern might be a good fit for you.

Why Buy?

• Leak Resistant: While not fully leak-proof, it's significantly better than Stanley's Quencher.
• Great Insulation, Especially for a Tumbler: Out of everything, this surprised us the most with this tumbler.  As a general rule-of-thumb, the wider the mouth opening, the worse the insulation.  That's why most tumblers with wide openings have worse insulation tests results compared to traditional bottles.  However, Simple Modern's 40oz tumbler was an exception and placed very well, even compared to many bottles with smaller diameter openings.
• Large Side-Mounted Handle: The handle is comfy to hold, and is large enough to fit a full-hand grip.  Because it's rigid, it's very easy to pick up and take when you when you're around the house or on the road.
• More Affordable: While not the least expensive option, it's less than you'd find from the most viral brands like Stanley.​
• Cupholder Friendly: The tapered design lets this large bottle fit in most standard cup holders.

Why Avoid?

• Leaks: Though it does leak less than Stanley's Quencher, the fact that it still leaks some is a negative.
• Bulky: While convenient to carry, the large handle makes the bottle much heavier and bulkier.

• Are Simple Moderns dishwasher safe? | Yes, though they recommend the top-rack.
• Are Simple Moderns worth it? | Yes, Simple Moderns are more affordable than many premium brands, but they still are good, reliable bottles that often look sleeker and better design.
• Are Simple Moderns safe, or are they bad for you? | Everything we've seen indicates that Simple Modern bottles are safe to use.  Here's their Product Safety statement if you'd like to review it.
• Are Simple Moderns leak-proof? | No, Simple Moderns are not fully leak-proof.  They are leak-resistant and much better than Stanley's Quencher, but they still let some water out.
• Are Simple Moderns BPA-free? | Yes, Stanley bottles are made of stainless steel and food-safe plastic, both of which are BPA-free.
• Are Simple Moderns lead-free? | We have not found an official statement or test that shows whether or not Simple Modern uses a lead-based solder.  This type of seal is fairly standard across this industry outside of a few notable exceptions like Owala and Hydro Flask.  Simple Modern says "Our products’ accessible components are made without BPA, regulated phthalates, lead or cadmium."  This doesn't mean the bottles don't contain lead, becaues usually lead is found in the inaccessible solder that seals the vacuum on most bottles like this.  However, even if Simple Modern uses a lead-based solder, realistically there is an extremely small probablility that you would ever have an issue with lead unless your bottle was severely damaged, and in that case you would likely need a new bottle anyways because the insulation is probably lost and the bottle would be very dented and wobbly.
