Brumate Era Review
Overview
While not as much of a household name as brands like YETI or Stanley, Brumate holds its own online, especially on Amazon. Its Era tumbler offers a leak-free lid, sleek design, and anti-slip base that have led to a wide range of fans and positive reviews.
The top lid has a dial that you can rotate between opened and closed. And unlike Quencher's dial, you don't have to remove the straw to do it. This makes the bottle truly leak-free and easy to use. The silicone mouthpiece and stainless steel straw are also notable additions for customers who are looking to minimize the ways that plastic comes into contact with their water. |

Brumate Era FAQs
- Are Brumates dishwasher safe? | Most Brumate Era colors are dishwasher safe, though you should put the lid parts in the top rack. However, notably the Dark Aura and Onyx Leopard are not dishwasher safe and should be handwashed.
- Are Brumates leak-proof? | Yes, one of Brumate's main advantages over most tumblers is that it's leak-proof. In fact, it's the only tumbler we're aware of with an exposed straw that is fully leak-proof (compared to other leak-proof ones with flip-up straw spouts).
- Are Brumates sold in stores? | Yes, they are sold in thousands of stores across the US. Here's a link to their store locator map.
- Are Brumates BPA-free? | Yes, Brumate's tumblers are made of stainless steel and food-safe plastic, both of which are BPA-free.
- Are Brumates lead-free? | We have not found an official statement or test that shows whether or not Brumate uses a lead-based solder. This type of seal is fairly standard across this industry outside of a few notable exceptions like Owala and Hydro Flask. We submitted an inquiry and received the response, "all BrüMate drinkware and accessories are regularly tested at 3rd party labs to ensure they meet and exceed all FDA and Prop-65 standards, including the strictest International lead and other heavy metal restrictions. All BrüMate drinkware uses food grade materials including 18/8 stainless steel for our bodies and BPA-Free Tritan Renew for our lids." The answer does not specifically answer the question of whether they use a lead-based solder. We assume that Brumate would say clearly say they did not use lead if that was the case, so it is likely that Brumate uses a lead-based solder but we are not certain. However, even if Brumate uses a lead-based solder, realistically there is an extremely small probablility that you would ever have an issue with lead unless your bottle was severely damaged, and in that case you would likely need a new bottle anyways because the insulation is probably lost and the bottle would be very dented and wobbly.
- Are Brumates powder-coated? | Waiting for response from Brumate.
- Are Brumates non-toxic? | Everything we have read indicates that Brumate's tumblers are non-toxic and safe to use.
- Are Brumates microwave safe? | No, you should not put this tumbler in the microwave.

Recommended Accessories
Bottle Brush Kit
Great for your regular cleaning every 2-4 days.
This kit includes a large brush to clean in the bottle, a detailing brush to clean the threads and lid, a straw cleaner, and hangers so you can stay organized. |
Cleaning Tablets
Recommended to use these once per month.
In additional to regular weekly cleaning, deep-cleaning your bottle once per month is usually a good idea to prevent germs and buildup, especially around seals. |
Bottle Boot
Great for protecting your bottle.
Big bottles are expensive, heavy, and made of steel. That combination of factors often leads to dents on the bottom, but boots help significantly reduce damage. |
And Just for Fun (and Better Tasting Water)
Fruit Infuser
As a bonus, check out our FlavorFuze Pod drop-in fruit infuser to make your water fun! Skip the soda or flavor pods with artificial sweeteners (like Cirkul) and add healthy flavors with natural fruit each day. The pod is easy to remove when you're done thanks to a big handle on top, making for a healthy mid-day snack.
It comes with two lids. One is a splash-guard style lid that fits in wide mouth Hydro Flasks, and the other is a drop-in style lid that fits in nearly all wide mouth bottles (including Owala FreeSips, YETI Ramblers, Stanley Quenchers, Hydro Flasks, and many more). |
