5 Reasons Why You Should Own a Reusable Water Bottle - Reason #1 - Environment

Here at BottlePro, we love common sense solutions.  When there are obvious solutions to known problems, why wouldn't we try them?  As an engineer, I can fully appreciate the beauty in solving a real-world problem with a practical solution, but it doesn't take a specialized background to know that one of the most visible problems out there with an obvious solution is with disposable water bottles.

In this series, we'll be exploring the Top 5 Reasons why you should own a reusable water bottle and use every day.  Some will be obvious and some will be a little less well-known, but all of them are legit reasons for why reusable water bottles are a common-sense solution to some very serious real-world problems.

Let us begin!

#1 - Save the whales! (Environment)
Have you ever heard cliche statistics on disposable water bottles?  You know, the ones about the volume of plastic islands in the ocean or those that say "if you could line up all the disposable water bottles consumed in the U.S., they would stretch X-amount of times around the world" (it's over 200 by the way).  If you're like me, you'll find this unsettling and difficult to even comprehend.

And the craziest part is that there are plenty of great options for reusable water bottles that people can choose from!  When you have bottles like Hydro FlasksKlean Kanteens, and Nalgenes out there, why wouldn't you get a reusable water bottle?

Listen, I'm not a hippie.  No one's ever called me a tree-hugger, and I'm not a member of PETA.  Far from it actually, given how my background is in mining engineering.  But I'm also a realist who knows that common sense approaches to obvious problems are worth investing in, particularly when "investing" actually means saving money! (more on that in upcoming posts)

Reusable water bottles let you cut down on the disposable plastic bottles that we humans keep mindlessly throwing away or recycling (which really isn't as beneficial as you might think).  It's one of those "if we could all just do this" kind of things that makes you wonder how much waste could be prevented if everyone got on board with reusable water bottles.

Up next we'll be discussing a more personal reason for owning a reusable water bottle - your health.
